On September 4, the Legislative Decree no. 101 of August 10, 2018 for the national implementation of General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 was published in the Official Journal. The Decree integrates the provisions of the GDPR, that were previously left to the autonomy of the Member States and will enter into force on September 19, 2018.
On June 11, the French Minister for Digital Economy indicated during questioning by a French Member of Parliament about the status of the draft data protection regulation that the Minister of Justice had rejected, during the meeting of the European Council held last week, the latest version of the draft regulation.
Following the recent implementation of the EU e-Privacy Directive, the Italian Data Protection Authority (the “Garante”) has issued a set of guidelines based upon which telecom operators and access providers are required to notify the Garante and data subjects of data breaches.
